#03 The Há Giang Orphan Project in North Vietnam
Shownotes
Nora and Douglas met in 2001 in Brisbane, Australia. Both followed their idealistic dreams to study cultures, people, languages and international environmental law in order to use their energy and gifts to best help people in need adn "mother earth". Douglas was drawn towards East and South East Asia, whereas Nora returned to Europe. Now in their real lives they have identified a sad connection between these two regions - human trafficking of Douglas' orphans to European countries. As ethnic minorities in Northern Vietnam, at the border to China, their parents got exploited at work, died from poor working conditions or got trafficked into China and all around the world. If the cycle does not get stopped, Douglas' children will themselves produce more orphans or die before having founded a family of their own. This episode is just a kick-off for Douglas, his network and the orphans themselves to speak about the situation onsite and what impacts actual help from the right people has. More stories are to come. Listen in, contact us to learn more for a possible volunteer work or a CSR project for your company.
